Ayah Mithika Lundt on Instagram: “Having a child affected by SMA has changed the way i look at life. You see, a few months ago i had my life figured out. Two adorable healthy kids,a loving and supportive partner, our business plan going as planned….i mean,what could possibly go wrong?And then,everything came crushing! When the results came in-via a call by the way,thanks to covid-19, nothing seemed to make sense anymore. I knew something was wrong because i am the one who insisted on her getting checked but i wasn’t prepared for SMA. What is SMA?, we asked…to cut the long story short,the neurologist said that Ayah is a type 2 or a sitter. What does that even mean??? We asked. Ayah might not be able to walk, she said.I immediately went into ‘research mode’. I was determined to know everything about this monster and find ways to help Ayah. Meetings with neurologists, calls abroad, talking to SMA organisations, calling affected parents….i did everything i could and i continue to do so. It is hard,it is very hard to deal with this situation but while i wish i never got to know about SMA,i do. It exists and if it’s not Ayah,then who? I would never wish any parent to go through this.But in this difficulty lies hope. Hope for a brighter tomorrow. Hope that,we will raise the money needed for her treatment because we have an incredibly supportive network, thank you.
